Parking policies

Parking is really simple, as long as neighbors think about neighbors and how parking affects everyone.

Everyone should feel safe, knowing that emergency vehicles can get through our narrow roads at any point and time.

All homes have a garage and driveways to park in. Many homeowners use their garage as a storage area rather than for their cars, which is every homeowner’s right.

What Are The Parking Policies?

What kind of neighbor are you?

Basic consideration of your neighbors is the first rule of thumb in parking. A few things to consider…

  • Are you parking in your garage when you can?
  • Are you parking on the street? If so, are you parking in front of your lawn or your neighbors lawn?
  • Are you parking across the street from another parked vehicle? If so, how would you expect an emergency vehicle to navigate to your home if it was needed?
  • Are you parking on the grass? This is in violation.
  • Are you doing vehicle repair on the street? This is in violation.

There are certainly others to take into consideration, but let’s start with these. If everyone is being considerate to their neighbors, then violations and fines do not become a factor.

STREET PARKING TIMES

You may park on the street anytime between the hours of 5am – 1am. The towing company is contracted between the hours of 1am – 5am.

What Are the Parking Violations?

Outlined in the Bylaws, the following are clear parking violations.

  • Street parking prohibited from 1am to 5am.
  • Parking on the grass
  • Pool parking is for pool visitors only
  • Trailers, mobile homes, boats, campers and buses are prohibited
  • Commercial vehicles are only allowed street parking for 4 hours at a time, unless otherwise approved, ie, thru ARC for roof repair, etc.

Please review the Bylaws for all the possibilities of violations. These are the most abused and will be enforced by towing and/or fines.

What kind of a neighbor are you?

I’m having company come in for the evening. Can you call the towing company and tell them not to tow these cars?

We are on contract with the towing company. Only in emergencies, ie, hurricane IAN, will we contact the towing company to halt towing for a period of time. We’ve had many residents contact us the night of their party to ask if we can suspend towing. Even if we did call the towing company in your behalf, there is no guarantee that the message would get to the driver.

Your best bet is to have your friends park across the street at the park. We’ve been advised by Gateway Services District that as long as the park isn’t abused by consistent overnight parking, no cars will be towed.

If your visitors need to park on the street during the day, this scenario clearly shows what is acceptable and what is not. Staggering parking so emergency vehicles can get through is needed. Cars blocking the way are in direct violation.
